FAQs

How long is each therapy session?

Individual sessions are approximately one hour.
Couples sessions are around one and a half hours.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your goals and the nature of what brings you to counselling.
Some people find one or two sessions helpful, while others working through deeper or ongoing issues may attend between six and twelve sessions.
We’ll discuss and review this together as we go, ensuring the process meets your needs.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice by text, email or phone. A cancellation fee applies for missed appointments or late notice.

Do you provide private health insurance rebates?

No, I don’t offer rebates, as my qualifications are not included under current rebate schemes. However, this is reflected in my reasonable and transparent fees.

Are sessions better online, in person, or by phone?

Due to COVID and the many clients who live remotely across Australia, research has shown that online and telephone counselling can be of equal benefit to clients.

Research has also established that the factor with the greatest impact on the success of therapy or counselling is the relationship that develops between the client and the counsellor, known as the therapeutic relationship. This relationship often begins with an intuitive sense of a “good fit,” felt by both the client and the therapist in the first session.

Each format has benefits. My preferred modes are in person and via video, as these allow for stronger rapport and clearer non-verbal communication.
However, if phone sessions are more convenient, they can also be effective.

How can I make an appointment?

You can book online using our “book now” or email me at info@counsellingwithtina.com.au, or call and leave a message if I’m unavailable. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible to confirm a suitable time.
